If a hurricane forces
us to cancel Sunday church services,
we will hold the
service the following Wednesday at 7pm unless there is still an
imminent threat from a hurricane.
We will do everything possible to keep you informed by use of group
emails and the church voicemail message system.
If in doubt,
please call us at 813-689-1787. |

Hurricane
Host Families and Guests Program |
|
Our Social Concerns Committee will
again offer help to Immanuel families in evacuation zones who have
nowhere to go or are unable to go to a hurricane shelter because of
health concerns or other reasons.
Social Concerns will match evacuees with homes having extra bedrooms or
facilities.
You can help us. The Committee needs your participation to make this
program a success and to give comfort to those with special needs.
See the surveys for Evacuees and volunteer Home Hosts in the breezeway
or call the church office at 813-689-1787. |

Lunch at the Roaring 20's
Pizza and Pipes―Where Eating is a
Sound Experience
All adults are invited to join the Pairs and Spares for lunch at
11:45 am on
Saturday, September 27th, at the Roaring 20's Pizza and Pipes
located at 6750 N US 301, Ellenton. The restaurant is located 1
mile north from I-75, at Exit 224.
We will meet at the restaurant
entrance at 11:45 am so that we can all sit together.
Entertainment is provided by
the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. Unlike an organ used in churches, it
is an orchestral organ capable of all the sounds and percussions
of a modern orchestra. The organ was built in 1931 for a movie
house in California and has had many homes since. The organ has
over 3,000 pipes.
The Pizza & Pipes menu has a
large selection of items, including appetizers, entrees, pasta,
pizza and sandwiches.
Come out to listen and watch
the organ being played while enjoying lunch and fellowship.
You can visit their
web site at
www.roaring20spizza.com.
After
lunch you may want to spend the rest of the day shopping in the
Ellenton Outlet Mall located just down the street from the
restaurant.
Watch for the signup sheet in
the breezeway. If you want to car pool or have
any questions, contact Vicki Aden through the church office or
email Vicki

Pairs &
Spares and Boar's Heads and Yule Logs! |
|
Get Ready for the Boar's Head Feast
& Yule Log Festival!
All adults are invited to join the Pairs and Spares at the Boar's Head
Feast and Yule Log Festival at Apostles Lutheran Church, 200 Kingsway
Road, Brandon, at
7pm on Friday
evening, December 5th.
Come on out and enjoy a Middle Ages
tradition of pageantry and merriment, wonderful food, music, theater,
colorful costumes, and the wonder of the Nativity.
The Boar's Head Feast -- a roast pork
dinner -- takes place in Theisz Hall at 7:00pm.
The play presented during the Boar's
Head Feast is loosely based on The Canterbury Tales.
We will then move to the Worship Center
at 8pm for an hour-long Yule Log Festival -- music and pageantry, ending
with the Nativity. Cost for
the evening is just $20 per person.
Sign up sheets will be located in the
breezeway.
Warning!!
Tickets go on sale in early October and immediately sell out.
Therefore, you must sign up
and pay for the event by September 28th.

available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Pairs & Spares |
|
WHAT IS "PAIRS AND SPARES"?
An informal gathering of Immanuel married and single adults for the purpose of getting
to know each other better. Yes, we worship together, and we smile and
say "Hello" in the breezeway -- but "Pairs and Spares" gives us an
opportunity to become friends.
WHO CAN JOIN?
You don't "join" and there is no membership list. You just watch the
Blue News or check the online calendar for the upcoming social activity
and if it fits into your schedule you sign up and say "I'll be there!"
WHEN DO YOU MEET?
There are no regularly scheduled dates and times for activities.
Activities are held monthly, normally on a Saturday. Depending on the
event, the scheduled time can range from noon, late afternoon to
evening. WHERE DO YOU
MEET?
Activities are normally held at a
location in the Brandon area, although we have had activities outside of
Brandon, too. Some of the past events included a luncheon cruise of
Tampa Bay, Dinner Theater in Brandon, barbeque at someone's home in
Brandon and a Bunco Party in the Youth Room at the church.
FOR ADULTS ONLY?
Yes, even parents with children need a "date night," so it's a
once-a-month time to find a sitter or leave the bigger kids at home
while Mom and Dad get a chance to visit with each other and other
"grown-ups."
NEED IDEAS?
We sure do! It's important that our activities meet the budget and
interests of our Immanuel Family. We will happily consider any suggestions you wish to submit to
the names shown for our activities.
We Hope to See
You Soon! |
