Pre-School Starting in August
______________
A letter from Kelly ...
We are blessed to offer our community
an exciting, new four-year old, Pre-Kindergarten program beginning in
August for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year!
The “Little Eagles” Pre-Kindergarten is a five-day a week program held
from 8:30 - 11am. There is also an option for you to enroll your child
in our extended day program from 11:45 am - 2:45 pm for an additional
fee. Our school holidays will follow the Immanuel School Handbook, which
will be provided at our Pre-School Orientation in August of 2008.
The primary purpose of our pre-school is to provide a quality Christian
educational foundation for our students, and to enable our children and
their families to share the love, joy and peace of Christ among
themselves and with those around them.
We believe that each child is a wonderfully unique creation of God who
possesses special talents and abilities, which we will help foster and
develop through our loving care, guidance and instruction. Immanuel
Lutheran Pre-School will help each student to grow spiritually,
intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically through enriching
and creative learning and play activities.
Our “Little Eagles” curriculum is based on the individual needs of each
child which will be determined through daily observation and
interaction.
The Christian-based curriculum will consist of the
following:
* Alphabet and Number
Recognition and identification
* Upper and Lowercase Letter Recognition and Naming
* Reading and Math Awareness and Appreciation
* Arts and Crafts (including painting, clay and “cooking”)
* Music, Movement, Rhythm
* Science and Exploration (Plants, Bugs, Space, Rockets, Technology)
* Center-based activities—(Blocks, Computer, Dress-up, etc.
* Sharing, Caring, Praying and Playing together
I’m very excited to be teaching this
class, and I look forward to working with the children of Immanuel and
the community in the “Little Eagles” program.

______________
What is SHARE?
The Self
Help
and
Resource
Exchange is a non-profit
community program providing quality food through the exchange of
volunteer hours.
$35 worth of food is exchanged for $14 plus volunteer service.
Immanuel has been a host site for this Outreach Ministry established by
the Tampa United Methodist Center. Immanuel’s schedule for Share
distribution was the 4th Saturday of every month.
Anyone who volunteers two or more hours a month at the church is
eligible-ushers, trustees, elders, Sunday School teachers, greeters,
counters, school volunteers, youth workers, etc., as well as anyone
volunteering outside the church.
We are currently gathering names of those who might be interested in
taking part in the program on the sign up sheet in the breezeway.
This sign up does not commit you
to the program, it merely indicates that you are interested in participating.
If you have any questions about SHARE you may contact Rita Fitzsimmons
between services at the Coffee Cart or through the church office.

______________
ECHO is busy all year round and always needs non-perishable food
donations such as: stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, corn, greenbeans,
flour and sugar.
Can you help?
Please place your donations in the wooden box in the corner of the
breezeway labeled "FOOD PANTRY".
For more information, contact Joan Chubbs through the church office.
Thank you for sharing!
More about ECHO ....
Started as a way to provide food and clothing to those in need of
short-term assistance in the Brandon area, ECHO's primary means of
support comes from the generosity of local civic organizations,
churches, businesses, and citizens -- it gets no funding from any local,
state, or federal agency.
Last year, ECHO served over 7,000 people and is funded solely by
donations and fundraisers.
Would you like to help? ECHO is in short supply of spaghetti sauce,
dried beans, peanut butter, flour, etc. Diapers (sizes 4 and 5) are also
needed.
Place your items in the wooden box in the breezeway labeled "Food
Pantry" and they will be delivered to ECHO.

Simply Giving®
Program All About Convenience
______________
Make sure your gifts keep on
giving — even when you're away
______________
Have you looked into the
Simply Giving ® program yet?
Many members of Immanuel have discovered the convenience, reliability and
safety of this
automated program offered through Thrivent Financial for
Lutherans at no cost.
The program is designed to help you conveniently and consistently
contribute to our congregation (or to pay tuition at our school), by
letting you make your gifts or tuition payments through a pre-authorized
withdrawal from your bank account.
So, when you're up north on your summer vacation,
or even when you're unable to get to church, your gifts are still making
a difference.
You determine the
frequency of your automatic gift—weekly, semi-monthly or monthly—the
option is yours.
Your gift or payment is deposited into Immanuel's bank
account on the same day it is withdrawn from your account—at no cost to
you or the church/school.
to read about the program and to download enrollment forms.
Or, if you're ready to enroll,
to download and print the
form (a PDF file) on your printer.
Forms are also available in the church office.

Cancellations |
If a hurricane forces
us to cancel Sunday church services,
we will hold the service the
following Wednesday at 7pm unless there is still an imminent threat from
a hurricane.
If Hillsborough
County cancels school or any school activities, we will also cancel
Immanuel Lutheran School and any scheduled activities.
We will do
everything possible to keep you informed by use of group emails and the
church voicemail message system.
If in doubt,
please call us at

Hurricane Host Families and Guests Program
______________Our Social Concerns Committee will again offer help to
Immanuel families in evacuation zones who have nowhere to go or are
unable to go to a hurricane shelter because of health concerns or other
reasons.
Social Concerns will match evacuees with homes having
extra bedrooms or facilities.
You can help us. The Committee needs your
participation to make this program a success and to give comfort to
those with special needs.
See the surveys for Evacuees and volunteer Home Hosts
in the breezeway or call the church office at
813-689-1787.
